India's premier national inter-school Scrabble championship — a credible, education-first event for the next generation of word champions.
The Scrabble Association of India is launching AISSC 2026 to sit alongside Spelling Bees, Olympiads and quiz championships as a marquee educational property.
This inaugural edition is the seed of what we intend to make an annual national championship — a stage where students from every region of India compete on equal footing, and where great word play is recognised, celebrated and rewarded.
Players actively expand their working vocabulary every round — words become tools, not memorisation.
Every turn is a small optimisation problem — letters, scores, board geometry and risk, all in 25 minutes a side.
Pattern recognition, anagramming under pressure, and reading the opponent's rack — sustained concentration as a skill.
Competitive performance against peers from across the country, in a structured and welcoming environment.
Tile values, double/triple squares and probability — players quietly internalise number sense and arithmetic.
Tournament etiquette, handshake openings and gracious losing are part of every round, by design.
Players are paired against opponents of similar standing each round — every game is competitive, no one is eliminated early.

Each regional round and the National Finals are run by certified tournament directors trained by SAI.
SAI is the national body for competitive Scrabble in India. We run national tournaments, train tournament directors, support city-level clubs, and represent India at international youth and senior championships.
